On the 7th July 2023 two of my guitar students performed in a production of the School Of Rock in Sutton Coldfield with Script Youth theatre group.
Ruby played the role of Zach (lead guitar in the movie) and Harry played Dewy the teacher (Jack Blacks character)
Ruby starting learning with me many years ago and like most people when they start learning the guitar knew nothing. As she was young I taught her Twinkle Twinkle Little Star in her first lesson. Many years on she has smashed her way through the Rockschool Grade books and is currently working on grade 6 at the time of writing this blog.
Script youth theatre group contacted me to see if I have any guitar students that would be interested in performing in the show. I put Ruby forward and she got the part of Zach the lead guitar player in the show. This shows persistence pays off when learning an instrument such as the guitar.
Harry had already got the role of Dewy when I started teaching him guitar. But since I’ve started teaching him guitar his knowledge has really improved. He played an amazing role in the School Of Rock show in Sutton Coldfield as his acting was amazing and he played the character to the last detail.
I was blown away with the talent of those in the show. And was very proud of my two students performances.
It was nice to sponser the programme also and support the theatre group.
